| Q: | I am considering having Imprinted Concrete installed but concerned in case any of the services under the drive have to be replaced and the drive dug up? |
| A: | The utility companies now use the Mole system for installing services, this means a hole excavated in the pavement outside your drive with another approx. 1 metre square or smaller excavation where the service enters your house making it fairly easy to repair, if you know that your water supply is old cast or lead we will quote for laying a new pipe at the time of excavation. |
| Q: | The photos I have seen show the product as shiny, is it slippery? |
| A: | The concrete sealer applied after completion can give that visual effect, however a slip resistant additive is now available to apply with the sealer, also properly installed P.I.C. has much more surface texture than other paving systems. |
| Q: | I have been told that concrete cracks, is this true? |
| A: | Concrete requires expansion joints allowing it to move without cracks forming, conrete in the UK has had a chequered history with much of the older concrete installed without proper training, insufficient preparation and site mixing of concrete instead of using ready mix which is batched under controlled conditions. |
| Q: | Will the colour last? |
| A: | The Colour hardener that we use carries a 10-year guarantee subject to the concrete sealer being renewed when required, normally every 2-3 years. |
| Q: | What maintenance is required? |
| A: | Regular washing with a pressure washer will keep it clean without damaging it, the sealer will require renewing when worn. This can be a D.I.Y. job with the sealer supplied by ourselves or we will quote for doing the job. |
| Q: | I have an existing concrete drive, will it have to be removed? |
| A: | We normally expect to remove the original driveway and base material if not suitable and start from scratch, going over the top of the existing will usually raise the drive too high against the house and garage. |
| Q: | Is there much mess involved? |
| A: | Removing the old drive and installing a new coloured drive will create a certain amount of dust and some disruption, however we would expect to leave the property in a clean condition. |
| Q: | How long will the job take? |
| A: | Every installation is different, however a typical drive on a semi-detached property should take 4 days for the main installation with a couple of additional visits for cleaning off and sealing the job, however bad weather in the final stages can delay the finish. |
| Q: | When can we use it? |
| A: | We recommend a minimum of 7 days after concrete has been laid to allow it to cure sufficiently, with 48 hours after sealing up before parking your car on it. |
